For public bodies in Ireland
Get three written quotes for IT services, equipment and software
Government departments, councils, schools, the HSE and other public bodies can request structured written quotes from approved suppliers, compare them side by side and keep a record. Free for buyers.
How it works
- 1
Describe what you need
Your specification, estimated value, how many quotes you need (usually three) and a closing date (12 noon). Keep quotes sealed until then if you prefer.
- 2
We confirm you're a public body
Work addresses on gov.ie, hse.ie, councils and other recognised public-sector domains are confirmed at once. Otherwise our team checks, usually within one working day.
- 3
Approved suppliers quote
Each quote gives a fixed price before VAT, the VAT rate, how long the price holds, delivery time and whether it meets your specification, with an optional formal quote (PDF).
- 4
Compare, award and keep the record
Compare quotes side by side, award with your reason (we tell the unsuccessful suppliers) and download a PDF record of every quote, question and answer.
Built for buying with written quotes
Fair to every supplier
Every supplier quotes on the same specification. Questions are answered once, for all of them, without saying who asked. No quotes are accepted after the closing time.
Approved suppliers only
Suppliers apply with their Revenue tax clearance access number and insurance details, which our team checks. You can check tax clearance yourself on revenue.ie too.
Sealed quotes if you want them
You see how many quotes have arrived, but not the prices or who sent them, until the closing time.
Enough quotes to compare
If fewer quotes than you need have arrived 4 days before the closing date, we invite more approved suppliers across Ireland.
Like-for-like comparison
Prices are fixed and before VAT, so quotes line up in one table, cheapest first, with the lowest price meeting your specification highlighted.
A record for your files
Download a PDF with your request, every quote, the questions and answers, and why you chose the winning supplier.

Your procurement rules still apply
TechQuotes helps you get and compare written quotes, but it's a marketplace, not a procurement system. Your organisation decides who to award to, and remains responsible for following its own procurement policy, thresholds and record keeping. Larger contracts usually have to be advertised on eTenders (etenders.gov.ie).
Supplier? Quote for public bodies
Create a provider account, then apply from your profile with your tax clearance access number and insurance details. Once approved, matching public-body requests appear in your leads and your profile shows a Public sector approved badge.
Join as a supplierFrequently asked questions
Who can request quotes as a public body?
Staff of Irish public bodies: government departments, offices and agencies, local authorities, schools and education and training boards, the HSE and other health services, and universities and colleges. Use your work email address so we can confirm it quickly.
What can we get quotes for?
IT services such as websites, IT support, hosting, cyber security and software development, and IT equipment and software: laptops, desktops, servers, networking and Wi-Fi equipment, printers and software licences, supplied and set up if you need it.
What does it cost?
Nothing. TechQuotes is free for public bodies and other buyers, with no obligation to award.
How are suppliers checked?
Suppliers apply to quote for public bodies with their tax clearance access number (TCAN) and insurance details, and our team checks them before approving. Each supplier's TCAN is shown with their quote so you can confirm their tax clearance on revenue.ie, as your procurement rules may require.
Can we keep quotes sealed until the closing date?
Yes. Tick 'Keep quotes sealed' when you post. You'll see how many quotes have arrived, but not the prices or who sent them, until the closing time. Suppliers can't message you before then; they ask questions through the request, and everyone sees your answers.
What if we don't get enough quotes?
If fewer quotes than you asked for have arrived 4 days before the closing date, we send your request to more approved suppliers across Ireland. You can also move the closing date later.
Does this replace eTenders?
No. TechQuotes is for lower-value purchases where written quotes are the norm. Larger contracts usually have to be advertised on eTenders (etenders.gov.ie). TechQuotes is a marketplace, not a procurement system: follow your own organisation's procurement policy and thresholds.
